SPIRITUAL DISEASES Listening to the Desert Fathers
with Fabrice BLEE, PhD January 15, 2023 5 p.m. (France) - 11 a.m./11 a.m. (Quebec) Videoconference from Costa Rica
Are thoughts a factor of alienation or, on the contrary, a factor of liberation? How do they prevent us from fully turning to the divine? How do we deal with the thoughts that assail us? These eminently current questions impose themselves on any spiritual seeker, because, on this inner path, it is the first thing with which we are immediately confronted: our thoughts.
The Desert Fathers of Egypt, seasoned explorers of silence, meditation and human psychology, mapped our thoughts and identified spiritual illnesses that plague everyone, as well as their remedies. They identified what stands in the way of a life transparent to the divine presence. Their teaching is very relevant and surprisingly topical because the human spirit is always the same, regardless of eras, cultures, traditions and lifestyles. Fabrice Blée, professor of theology at Saint Paul University in Ottawa and director of the film L'Aurore du Tréfonds, the spiritual birth of Swamiji, heartily shares the wisdom of the Desert Fathers. Passionate and specialist in interreligious matters, he establishes links with the tradition of India and Buddhism.
